About our Group
The Mid-Canterbury Group of Riding for the Disabled (RDA) is a charitable Incorporated Society. We offer horse riding and horsemanship lessons and tuition to those in the Mid-Canterbury area who may benefit from this service.
We have trained instructors and a regular long term group of volunteers who work within the NZRDA philosophy and Code of Safe Practice.
Who May Refer Clients
The Mid-Canterbury Group receives referrals from Doctors, Therapists, Schools, Kindergartens, Playgroups, CCS, SGC , Lifelinks, Government Health, Welfare & Rehabilitation agencies, and other professionals or parents who have been involved with RDA in other areas.
Criteria For Attendance
What you need to be able to attend:
- Application to Ride. This is assessed by group instructors before a decision is made to accept the applicant into our programme.
- Doctor's Referral / Consent
- Parent / Guardian or Client Consent
What We Provide
- Riding helmets & heeled boots
- Horses and equipment
- Trained instructor and volunteers
- All programmes designed within the guidelines of the NZRDA Code of Safe Practice
- Confidentiality
